Ernest Hemingway

Ernest Miller Hemingway, nado en Oak Park, Illinois, o 21 de xullo de 1899 e finado en Ketchum, Idaho, o 2 de xullo de 1961, foi un escritor estadounidense, galardoado co Premio Nobel de Literatura en 1954.

As súas novelas como Por quen dobran as campás, Adeus ás armas, etc. obtiveron éxito mundial. A novela "O vello e o mar" valeulle o Premio Nobel de Literatura. Publicou un pequeno número de contos, pero todos de gran valor. Sempre viaxou moito, morando durante algún tempo en cada un dos continentes. Combateu en Francia, na Guerra Civil de España e na China.
Todos os personaxes deste escritor enfróntanse co problema da "evidencia tráxica" do fin, cun correlato evidente co propio autor. Hemingway non puido aceptala. A vida enteira xogou coa morte, ata que, na mañá do 2 de xullo de 1961, na súa casa nas montañas de Cuba, matouse co seu fúsil de caza.
